Who We Are
The mission of Seven Rivers Canoe Club is to highlight, promote, share and improve recreational paddling in South Mississippi. We seek to accomplish this by focusing on seven extraordinary paddling rivers easily accessible from our home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. This destination will provide useful and accurate information about the Bouie, Leaf, Okatoma, Tallahala, Bogue Homa, Black, and Red Rivers/Creeks, and promote the recreational use and preservation of these waters. We are also dedicated to the improvement of accessibility and quality of the paddling experience. We will also incidentally review, discuss and provide information on other excellent paddling rivers in the state of Mississippi, such as, the Strong, Chickasawhay, Chunky and Wolf Rivers. We may even post some of our pictures and videos from Bear Creek - up in the Northeast corner of the state.

Although all of the waters we discuss in these pages are easily accessible, many of them are also remote, solitary and pristine. Many of them are rarely used and under-appreciated for recreational paddling. Our family has spent the past several years exploring these rivers at just about every chance we get.

What we discovered is a bonanza of beautiful creeks and rivers that we think constitutes one of the greatest concentrations of wild and scenic rivers in the United States. And, as if that is not enough to get your attention, the Pascagoula River system is the last complete river system in the lower 48 states that is virtually unobstructed by dams or altered by channeling. In other words, when you paddle these Seven Rivers, you will be experiencing them largely as our ancestors did generations ago. The existence of this rare state of nature is worthy of preservation and promotion.
With this website, we hope to share our love and enthusiasm for these Seven Rivers. We invite you to join us virtually as you enjoy our photos and videos and then join us in person as you explore what you have been missing. With the maps, descriptions and directions, we hope we've made it easy for you. And when you come to visit, you will likely find us ON THE WATER!
